Chapter Six Opens  A Meeting
  At  Bendigo    22.1.2013

I had put this day on my calendar for this important ride.
Army Ron was camping at my place for a few days working on a project.

I had been in touch with Rotten Ronny and we worked out a sort of ride plan for the day.
Gary B the Postie from Cobram arrived at my place around 3pm and we were to meet up with Justin at 4.30pm at a local car park.

Away we went, fuelling up on the way and when we got to the car park, Army Ron and the Postie kept riding on into the sunset. I pulled up to wait for Justin. The next thing I see is the Postie and Army Ron returning. I had forgotten to tell them about meeting up with Justin (so they said).

The three of us then headed towards Stanhope to meet up with Rotten Ronny and Tom at 5pm and Ron was on time as always, with three minutes to spare.

We all then moved onto Elmore for our wee break and a cold drink. I swapped bikes with Army Ron and we all headed off again and as I rode into Goornong I noticed that my packet of smokes had blown out somewhere along the ride.

Army Ron pulled up beside me and asked me if I had seen Syd and I said that I did not see Syd at all.

The rest of the group pulled up to greet Syd, I swapped Army Ron bikes again and we all headed off together. Fancy not seeing the legend (Pinoclean Syd)

We rode into Bendigo and went straight to one of Ron’s Kitchens for a feed.

We finally found our way to the meeting place and we were
greeted by Peter and Penny.

One by one members started to arrive and at one stage I counted 15 odd bikes of all sizes and makes.

Others arrived in cars and I could say that there were between 40-50 people at the meeting which was chaired by Ron E and Carl from Bendigo.

The meeting was very moving and it was just great to see so many new faces sharing stories between one and all.

The Members, who put this meeting together and made everyone feel at ease and welcome, should be very proud of themselves.

We or I in AA are starting to enjoy a life beyond our wildest dreams, with friends we have not met yet.

To see the interaction between people who are getting their lives together and making their family and friends proud of what they are achieving.

To the people who prepared supper need to be thanked for their great preparation and effort that they put into eats.

After the meeting everyone mingled between themselves and the odd loud laughter and smiles was just great to witness.

It was time to hit the road for our ride home, somehow the chocolate man got left behind and the postie was camping in Bendigo for the night.

We found the main drag with Ken Ts help and away we went, riding straight through to Elmore. Justin rode at the back and showed us the road in front with his low beam light.

Man, that bike of Justin’s really has a bright light.

Army Ron got his driving lights working and he was allocated to ride up front and light up the road and away he went.

Our next stop was at Stanhope and this is where we said good bye to Ron and Syd. Justin, Army Ron and I then rode the short to Shepparton.

One day at a time the ride goes on forever and the road never ends. Till next time, bye from me.

Stanley Remembrance Day Ride

     16 – 18 of Nov 2012

Some members from all over rode up to the Stanley meeting on Friday for their local Chapter Six Meeting.

The meeting was very well attended and the barbi that was put on by Shifty and his family before the meeting from all accounts was just great.

I could not make it to the meeting but travelled in Al’s bus up to Jindera and waited there for those who were staying at Reg and Sue’s.

Just after 11.30pm I heard the sound of bikes rolling up the street and I got up and went out to greet them.
We all went inside and the tea, coffee, chocolate, laughter and lies started to flow.

We will have to look after the chocolate man.( Snickers )

On the Saturday everyone was up on time and rearing to go after breakfast.

After a ride edict talk from the Postie the group headed off to the Albury servo.

I counted some 14 bikes; Shifty was there on the new old BMW. Gatton was riding a new demo Victory,

I don’t know what his verdict was about the bike, but I heard other comments from different ones.

The ride around and over the Hume Weir to Jingellic for a smoke break, was just one beautiful parts of the ride.

There was more countryside on the ride that was just as great.

The group then decided to ride onto Kahancoban for lunch, and what a great feed it was.

I heard great positive comments from different ones about their meals.

We are having a bit of a break here at Jingellic before moving on for lunch.

Riders and friends gathered for a BBQ at the end of the ride in Albury’s Norial Park .

For those who had decided to camp over at different places, and those who wentback to Reg n Sue’s house watched a documentary of the Isle of Man racing.

We don’t ride bikes, those blokes do, and they are ????????? They may want a look the 2 step.

On Sunday morning Reg lead the riders that were left into the spiritual concept meeting at Glenecho, there were around 20 odd members attending the meeting…

Pinoclean Syd, Postie Gary, Paul and Penny and I were all ushered out of town by Reg for our windy ride home.

Alison wants to thank Reg for going slow and waiting for her in her bus as she followed along.

A great effort was put into this ride buy the Stanley Group and I as well as others had a great time doing some things beyond our wildest dreams.

Till the next ride, ride safe and good bye.

Gary W
